Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

What you give us

• Your email address, or your name and email from Google if you sign in with Google.
• Your profile: name, phone number, photo, gender, birth year, preferred sport and position.
• Your area: the neighbourhood you pick and an approximate point on the map, used to find teams and matches near you.
• Teams, squads, challenges, match times, venues, scores, ratings and the messages you send in match chats.

What’s created as you use Playyup

• Notifications, results history, tier points and rank.
• Basic technical data our hosting and database providers log to run and secure the service, such as IP address and browser type.

2. Your photo

When you add a card photo, the face check and the background cutout run on your own phone or in your browser. Only the finished cutout is uploaded — not the original photo, and not any face data. We don’t use face recognition to identify you.

3. How we use it

• To create your account and sign you in.
• To show your player card, and to let captains find and add you by phone number.
• To show teams, matches and venues near you, and to rank teams fairly.
• To send in-app notifications about challenges, matches, results and messages.
• To keep Playyup safe — preventing abuse, fake results and spam — and to fix problems.

4. What other players see

• Your name, photo, rating, position and area appear on your player card, on team pages and in matches.
• Your phone number is visible to the captains and teammates of teams you’re in, so they can reach you about games.
• Match chat messages are visible to the players in that match.
• Teams’ names, crests, records and approximate areas are visible to everyone on Playyup so they can be challenged.

We never show your exact location — only the area you picked.

5. Who we share it with

We don’t sell your data or share it for advertising. We use a few providers to run Playyup, who process data only on our behalf:

• Supabase — database, sign-in and file storage.
• Cloudflare — website hosting.
• Google — “Continue with Google” sign-in.
• MapTiler — maps and place search (it receives the map areas you view and the places you search for).

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect players’ safety.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account we remove your profile, photo and phone number; match results stay in teams’ histories without your name. Backups are cleared within 30 days.

7. Your choices

• Edit your name, photo and area any time from your profile.
• Leave any team, or turn your team’s availability off.
• Ask for a copy of your data, or for your account to be deleted, by emailing hello@playyup.com from the address you sign in with. We’ll reply within 30 days.

8. Security

Data travels over encrypted connections and is stored with access rules so players only reach what they should. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects you, we’ll tell you.

9. Age

Playyup is for people aged 16 and over. If you believe someone younger has signed up, tell us and we’ll remove the account.

10. Changes and contact
